Alright, some favorites, favorite breakfast?
KM: Either an acai bowl from Mozy café,
or a bagel with cream cheese, tomato, basil, salt
and pepper.
KL:
Favorite album?
KM: Whoa, that's so hard. Probably Bob
Marley. Legend.
Or Radiohead, Kid A. Well, right now it's the
New Pornographers, Twin Cinema.
KL:
Favorite surf video?
KM: Used to be The
Show, then it was Blue
Crush, and now maybe Campaign
2 'cause they're doing some crazy, inspiring
stuff
KL:
Favorite time of day?
KM: Sunrise.
KL:
Favorite surf spot?
KM: New Zealand, I don't know if I really want
to say, but it's on the North Island, East coast.
An insane right hander that peels for soooo long.
Barrels, does everything, so much fun. But you
have to go find it.
KL:
Favorite season?
KM: Well, now that I'm not in school anymore,
fall.
KL:
Where was school?
KM: Santa Cruz, all the way. I got a BA degree
in environmental studies/earth sciences from UC
Santa Cruz.
KL:…because
you were interested in it, or because you HAD
to major in SOMETHING?
KM: Interested for sure. I focused in Sustainable
Agriculture/Organic Farming and I got really into
that and stoked on it. I definitely hope to eventually
apply my degree to some kind of "real job".
KL:
Surfing can't be a "real job"?
KM: Not according to my grandma.
KL:
But according to you?
KM: Yeah, it can be a real job for sure.
KL:
But you want a real job other than surfing?
KM: Yeah eventually. I want to do something beyond
fulfilling my own desires, something that contributes
to the whole and not just me.
