KL:
So I hear you're an organic freak?
KM: Yeah, I try to eat organic as much as I can,
but it gets super expensive. I think what you
put into your body is important and I don't think
putting pesticides in me is very cool.
KL:
Would you rather drown or get eaten by a shark?
KM: Drown. I'm soooo not into getting eaten by
a shark. I don't want to have to see myself getting
eaten.
KL:
Understandable. So female surfing, what‘s
up with it and where would you like to see it
go?
KM: Girls are ripping lately, there is no denying
it, yet there is still a lot of inequality in
the sport when it comes to pay and treatment at
contests and stuff. I feel like female surfing
really needs some big company to step up and sponsor
the whole WQS tour. That would bring female surfing
to a whole new level and maybe the inequality
between men and women would diminish. 
KM:
So what do you see yourself doing with surfing
in the future?
KL: Trying to surf as sustainably as possible.
Getting creative with my mode of transportation,
and showing people that there are other ways to
find waves besides hopping on a plane and hiring
a car. You can walk, bike, kayak, sail, skate,
etc… and use little or no gasoline, which
seems a lot better for the earth.
KL:
Would you rather be a hippie or a rastafarian?
KM: I don't know! That’s a super hard question….a
Hippie.
KL:
Why?
KM: It just makes more sense. Peace and love,
life is good, yeah for organic. Although a jah
rasta would be sick.
KL:
You kinda strike me as a rasta, with the hair
and everything.
KM: Really? Wow.
KL:
How does that make you feel?
KM: Shoots, that's pretty cool.
KL:
Let's do some word association. What's the first
thing you think of when I say the word…burrito.
KM: me! ha ha ha! I kind of feel like a burrito
most of the time. It's pretty much all I eat,
or think about. Ok, not true, but I really like
eating burritos - pinto beans, black beans, refries,
any kind of bean… cheese, lettuce….
