Who are your inspirations?
AA: For surfing, I'd say
Kelly Slater. He's an amazing surfer, and an amazing
person. He's very humble for all his success.
He has long staying power, which is very admirable.
For women, Lisa Anderson, kind of the innovator,
set the standard for women's surfing.
KL:
Despite high quality and good intentions, many
all-girl surf magazines have had to shut their
doors. What's it going to take for a women's magazine
to survive?
AA: Bringing new faces into
the sport, and up-and-comers. I think that's been
a problem with other magazines, they have a select
group of girls and they like to just run them.
KL:
