KL:
I hear you're an art fan. What kind of art?
AA: I like everything. I
like graphic design, painting, sketching, drawing
on boards, music, theater, any type of art or
fine art.
KL:
Do you act?
AA: No no, definitely not.
KL:
What's been you most recent endeavor?
AA: I went to Virginia Beach,
and got 2nd in the 1-star WQS.
KL:
The waves were tiny, yet you still got 2nd. How
do you surf so well in small waves?
AA: Well I actually grew
up in Hawaii, but now I usually surf small waves.
I just try to surf real quick and keep my speed.
I guess California is usually small, so it's good
practice.
KL:
What was the last premiere or LA function you
attended?
AA: Um... I've gone to so
many things, I'm trying to think of something
really fun. Well, this wasn't the last, but it
was probably one of the most fun - Usher's birthday
party.
KL:
Nice, at a house, or club, or what?
AA: At a club, they rented
it out and threw a party.
KL:
Does anyone give you grief when they see you posed
all sexy-like in some magazine?
AA: You know, not really,
I get a lot of positive feedback. One thing that
always bugs me though is people maybe thinking
I'm trying to be a model or an actor, 'cause I'm
not. I'm always a surfer first. And I take any
positive opportunities I get to promote myself.
KL:
Have you ever beat Pamela Anderson at anything?
AA: No, I haven't, not yet.
She used to date my dad, oddly enough.
KL:
Do you know her?
AA: I've met her a couple
times, but I wouldn't say we're like this (crosses
her fingers). I see her as my competition, so
I try to stake her out.
KL:
I read somewhere that she was up for PETA's Sexiest
Vegetarian too.
AA: Oh, yeah, she was.
KL:
So, uh, technically you've beaten Pam Anderson.
AA: (laughs)
KL: Ok, so surfing. Hmm,
I maybe didn't think of any surfing questions.
AA: I know! Enough of these
cheesy, "What premiere are you going to?"
I'm like, I don't want to talk about famous people
I know.
KL: Alright, alright, but
the world needs to know! How comfortable are you
in big waves?
AA: To be honest I think
I was more comfortable when I was younger, 14,
15, when I was living in Hawaii. I started surfing
some pretty good size waves, 'cause, you know
how Hawaii is, you're out surfing and huge waves
come. But yeah, I'm pretty comfortable. I want
to start surfing really big waves, actually this
season in Hawaii. Maybe tow-in. I've been talking
to my friend Jamie O'Brien and he's like, ‘yeah,
i'm gonna take you out there, show you how it's
done!’
KL: Let's see it! That'd
be awesome. Have you ever posed nude?
AA: No, and I never would.
KL: Even if you got paid
a whole bunch of money?
AA: No, I don't think I
ever would.
KL: Even if you could block
yourself with your surfboard?
AA: Um, maybe suggestive,
I would never show my boobs or anything. I don't
think there is any price on that.
