GIRLS OUTSHINE CLOUDY CONDITIONS AT ROXY JAM CARDIFF DAY 1

CARDIFF, California (Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007) – Despite trying conditions and overcast cloud cover, the girls shined through on Day 1 of the Roxy Surf Jam in Cardiff, which saw event favorites gouge and slide their way into the next round.

Bianca Valenti (Dana Point, CA) netted the high heat total of the event by posting an impressive 17.30 out of a possible 20 in here Round 3 heat. The young natural-footer cross-stepped and blasted her way through the stormy conditions and has announced her presence as the girl to beat in the remaining rounds of competition.

‘The surf has been pretty tricky today and I was fortunate to find a couple of scores in that heat,” Valenti said. “The conditions are supposed to clean up a bit tomorrow, so hopefully I can keep my momentum up and end tomorrow on the podium.”

Lindsay Steinriede (Dana Point, CA), defending Roxy Jam Cardiff Champion and reigning ASP North America Women’s Longboard Champion, advanced through her Round 3 heat this afternoon, keeping her title defense alive at this year’s Roxy Jam Cardiff.

“It was a close one out there today,” Steinriede said. “There are so many good girls in this competition. I feel good, but it’s a long way to go so we’ll see what happens tomorrow. I would love to win back-to-back events.”

Tomorrow will conclude the 2007 Roxy Jam Cardiff with the champion taking out the ASP North America Women’s Longboarding Title.

The competition will have LIVE scores and audio available at www.aspnorthamerica.org
