Get up close and personal with today's female surfers in JettyGirl, a monthly online surf magazine for surfer girls of all ages. Each month we feature one surfer with an in-depth interview, photos and video clips.
For the past thirty days we have had the privilege of tagging around with Western Australia's Claire Bevilacqua. As part of the newer generation of WCT surfers, Claire is aiming to push the performance boundaries of women's surfing to new heights especially as it pertains to boosting big airs. Her creativity and drive in the water is matched by an equally dynamic persona on land. Honest, direct and exhibiting an uncanny knack for telling it like it is, Claire's larger-than-life approach to people and situations is quite refreshing. While her feistiness garners the lion's share of press, it was during one quiet moment of encouraging words to American up-and-comer Sage Erickson that offered me a glimpse into Claire's kind and generous soul. A ripping surfer and an amazing human being, Bevo is truly one-of-a-kind.
Our interview with Claire touches on her love of
Australia, her maturing aerial skills, and her take on Ozzie pride. She
also discusses her vision for the world tour as well as offering her opinion
on advertising practices within the surf industry. After reading the interview,
be sure to check out Claire's latest photos
and video clips.
