JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Shannon McIntyre:
I would love to be able to give to the orphanages
that we visited in Liberia, India and Mexico.
If you have the opportunity to bless others
please check out www.onsurfari.com
and click on GIVE to see organizations that
we like to support when we can. (Sumba Foundation,
Gabriel House, Compassion International, Trinity
dental, Duawlie Children's home, GFA, SurfAid,
Surfrider, Love light Melody). The other half
I would pay off my parents' house, give some
to my bros, pay off our rental, Get Shayne a
Jet Ski, and put $250,000 in savings for my
kids' education, and life stuff.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Shannon: My current
favorite board is a 5'10" Rusty, MOD QUAD
model, 20" wide, 2.2 thick. It rides fast
and responsive in most all conditions, gets
me through tough sections. I have lots of fun
whenever I ride it.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Shannon: I would
like to hang with Jesus, to see Him walk on
water, control the sea, and all the crazy miracles
He did. He hung with outcasts, and pissed off
the religious hypocrites. It would have been
an interesting crew to cruise with, and learn
from. And to see pure love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness and faithfulness.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Shannon: SAS
Survival Handbook, Ladyhawke Magic,
Stranger than Fiction, Sambazon acai.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Shannon: My best
surf memory of 2009 was holding my baby girl
on the beach while watching my 5 year old son
catch his own wave and stand in Liberia.
