JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Rosy Hodge: Yeww!!!!
I would spend the money on kids from my local
community. A lot of them are super talented
but don't have the money to pursue what they
want to do so I would spend it on sending them
to school and helping them start businesses.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Rosy: My first
Spider Murphy, custom shaped board. I remember
being the happiest girl in the world when that
board arrived and when I first surfed it. He
has been shaping my boards since I was 8 and
I feel lucky to have someone like him shaping
my crafts. He is a legend.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Rosy: Nelson Mandela
when he was in prison on Robbin Island. If I
had to see what he went through for just one
day I don't think I would complain another day
in my life.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Rosy: I would choose
an encyclopedia, Bustin' Down the Door
or Endless Summer 2 and cheese quesadillas.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Rosy: Wow, so many.
I went on a family holiday to a place called
Plett and got the most insane waves for the
week straight with only my old man, my boyfriend
and a few friends out and it was fun. Also,
I had a really good surf at Honolua the day
the comp finished ...I don't know. I made a
few good memories the past year.
