JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Megan Abubo: I
would pay my house off and give the rest to
my two sisters. The half to benefit the world
I would ask for it to go to breast cancer research
and awareness.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Megan: I would
have to say a 6'3" Eric Arakawa made me
because I get to use it when it gets bigger
and I won Haleiwa on it. I will never forget
that Panda airbrush board. Next would be the
brand new alaia I rode the other day that I
received as a gift. It was the most challenging
and soulful watercraft I have ever used.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Megan: My mom because
there isn't a day that goes by that I don't
miss her. She always made me laugh and was so
comforting.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Megan: The
Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, Three Little
Birds by Bob Marley, Thicker Than Water,
and chips, salsa and guacamole.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Megan: Six weeks
of epic surf we got which was out of season.
