JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Meegan Feori: I
would invest my half in my fine art business,
I would use it to further my education and to
fund exciting projects. I would also invest
a large portion of the "giving half"
in order to start a foundation that would donate
money to groups that promote creativity. I would
give what remains to the Mingei Museum and the
UCSD Crafts Center, two amazing entities that
promote creativity in San Diego.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Meegan: I like
my 9'0" single fin pintail that Kevin Sullivant
made me several years ago. It is a permutation
of a Takayama/Tudor Flow. Kevin shaped it and
did a beautiful job with the glass.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Meegan: I would
like to spend a day with Margaret Kilgallen.
I admire her artwork. We would have a day full
of small adventures and good conversation.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Meegan: Dune
by Frank Herbert. A DJ set by RATATAT. Trail
mix with M&Ms.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Meegan: Pretty
simple, surfing at Tourmaline with my Dad and
our friends. Not a huge or amazing day, but
a good one. Surfing, for me right now, is less
about riding waves and more about sharing the
experience with friends.
