JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Mary Osborne: I
would put a down payment on a house for me in
Ventura, then go on a few humanitarian surf
trips to help those in need. I am a huge sucker
for children so I would "adopt" a
few children in need and help them as much as
I can.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Mary: I have ridden
so many beautiful surfboards. I remember when
I first started riding really heavy boards.
I took out an old heavy (real heavy) Bing and
fell in love. That session I realized how single
fin boards were supposed to be ridden. Let the
board do the work, glide and enjoy the ride.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Mary: Michael Jackson.
He just seemed so eccentric and bizarre. I would
love to go see his day to day activities. I
also have thing for the time period when Frank
Sinatra was around ...I think I would actually
take Frank over Michael. Frank is a class act!
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Mary: Tuesdays
with Morrie, chocolate covered raisins,
and North Shore. Hahaha!
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Mary: So many great
memories this last year. I had an amazing trip
to Fiji where I was able to visit some remote
villages and connect with an entire different
lifestyle. Pretty memorable!
