JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Lynne Dickinson:
Wow, that's a hard one, I'd pay off my mortgage
and carry on living the life I have (as it's
pretty darn good and doesn't really need any
improvement). As for the half to benefit the
world??? That's going to take some thinking
and the day after New Year is not a good one
for that. Not sure how to spend half a million
dollars to best improve the world around me,
lots of people need money but would that really
benefit the world? Too complex a one to answer
off the cuff…
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Lynne: Believe
it or not it was a Bic board, the first one
I learned to surf on—has to be the most
special feeling actually learning to surf and
standing up for the first time. I just got my
first real custom board for Christmas, made
just for me ...yet to try it out but am sure
it will be epic – a Surfline board, made
and shaped for me by Roger Hall.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Lynne: OK –
thought long and hard about this – would
have to be Jesus! I would like to know if he
really is who everyone says he is or just some
nice guy with a lot of influence.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Lynne: One book,
How to survive on a desert island! Jackson Browne,
Late for the Sky (could happily listen
to Jackson Brown over and over – good
for any mood). Point Break –
or maybe Blue Crush! A bunch of bananas,
healthy and filling.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Lynne: Being in
Hawaii when the surf was big enough for the
Eddie to run. I missed the event by one day
but got to see some amazing surfing in the lead
up.
