JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Linda Benson: There
are so many good choices, but I’d sure
like to help the trash vortex in the Pacific.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Linda: My very
first board that my Dad let me buy for $20.
It was an 8'6" water logged balsa. It was
re-shaped into an 8' "Pig" board.
The reason it gets the #1 spot is because it
took me into a world and life that has given
me more than words could ever say or describe.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Linda: My mother
or father.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Linda: Team
of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Imagine
by John Lennon. Five Summer Stories,
MacGillivray/Freeman. Rice crackers and hummus.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Linda: A particularly
good ride on my 9' Takayama SUP at Cardiff Reef.
