JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Layne Beachley:
I would split it between SurfAid, Surfrider
Foundation, my Aim For The Stars Foundation
and the WWF.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Layne: I must have
ridden over 250 boards so there is no way I
can recall which one was the best.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Layne: The Wright
Brothers because being a witness to the marvel
of flight would be amazing!
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Layne: My book
of choice is Atlas Shrugged because
it takes months to read, Don't Change
by INXS as it's my favorite song and I can never
hear it enough, Mad Wax has always
been my favorite surf movie and the best snack
would be a bunch of Musashi Protein Bars.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Layne: Retiring
from Professional Surfing.
