JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Kelly Sloan: I
have spent that million a million times and
my heart goes out to every animal out there
that is less fortunate than others. I could
write about this forever but simply it would
go to bettering the life of animals that have
been abandoned or neglected ...from dogs and
cats to reptiles and farm animals.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Kelly: Remembering
back to the day when I was 9 and my dad and
I walked across the street to a garage sale
and I fell in love with an old yellowed Kanoa
Max fish that was a whopping $20. I begged my
dad to buy it for me. He said no so I worked
off the $20 that day doing yard work. I am thinking
that it was the work I put into getting it that
made it ride the best!
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Kelly: I want to
know what was going thru Oprah's head before
she had her own show, I'd hang out with her
and pick her brain for a day!
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Kelly: As for snack
food I could live off any type of Mexican, one
surf movie would be Another State of Mind,
the Killers Are We Human and for a
book, ohhhh the reader that I'm not I loved
The Four Agreements.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Kelly: The first
thing that comes to mind was Cori Schumacher's
birthday in April when we all paddled out for
a sunset surf and a lot of us hadn't surfed
together in a long time. It felt good to be
in the water that day!
