JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Jessica Grimwood:
That's a hard one ...I suppose that's not much
money these days anyway so you could probably
blow it really quickly! I guess I'd really probably
pay my parents back for the 21 years of looking
after me and paying for me to eat, sleep and
live ...and with whatever is left over if there
is any I'd buy a goat boat and paddle around
running over all the shortboarders.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Jessica: The best
board I have ever ridden is a 6'0" Col
Smith channel bottom single fin I found on a
rubbish pile down the end of my block. It feels
amazing every time I ride it and it made me
start to believe that surfboards may have hidden
energy inside them. It makes me look at surfing
so differently but the fin's broken right now
so it's chilling downstairs!
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Jessica: Woah,
I think that would be super heavy but ...I think
I'd be in the 1970's, Jim Morrison Venice Beach
roof sleeping days.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Jessica: A book
about how the human body works. The song that
never ends. The Present. Grapes? Yeah
grapes.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Jessica: Newport
Beach and Californian surfing days and sand
wrestling. Oh, and maybe beating Silvana in
Portugal! Haha!
