JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Jeannie Chesser:
First, I would take all my best friends that
I surf with to Tavarua for a couple weeks, followed
by a three week boat trip in Indo. Then
I would try to convince my landlord to sell
me my house that I have been renting since '73.
The other half would go to help the homeless
in Hawaii (the ones that are willing to help
themselves, not the druggies and bums) and the
rest would go to support Surfrider and the dolphins
in the ocean.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Jeannie: My best
surfboard is the one I have now from Eric Arakawa,
a 5'8" quad. My second best is my
8'6" stand-up from Jay Richardson from
Makaha.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Jeannie: I would
travel back in time to spend a day with my son,
Todd, for obvious reasons.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Jeannie: The book
would be something along the lines of survival
skills or a learn a dozen languages book. Song:
something from Maxwell. Five Summer Stories.
Popcorn because it is the lesser of evil snack
foods.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Jeannie: Surf related
memory for this year has to be when I was out
paddling with the dolphins in clear water ...they
went slow enough so I could keep up ...there
were dozens of them, babies jumping, adults
checking me out ...I was with them several times
this year on my stand up when the waves were
small in Town. I am the dolphin whisperer.
