JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Jai Greenlee: For
the world, I would donate to orphanages and
to organizations that are committed to ending
the world water crisis and global warming. With
the half for me, I would self publish a historical
fiction novel I wrote and fund it to become
a film-in which I would produce, direct and
star in. I would build an eco-friendly home
in the hills overlooking the ocean for myself
and my family. I would fund my friends' and
family's dreams!!
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Jai: The first
one, it was a long board. I had never surfed
before and it treated me well and kept me afloat!
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Jai: It would be
Lady Josephine, who was one of Napoleon's wives.
I just wrote a book loosely based on her life
while she lived in Paris, and I would love to
follow her for a day and see what it was like.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Jai: Pillars
Of the Earth by Ken Follett. Imagine,
The Beatles. Riding Giants. Fresh guacamole
(avo, sea salt, lime juice, scoop of fresh salsa)
and organic white corn chips.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Jai: Learning to
surf with an amazing group of pros in Mexico
on a bikini shoot for Carve Designs...rad suits
and amazing waves. I was naive and had no idea
about anything, but after 6 hours and many waves,
I was a hero. I survived and played in a fantastic
set of 5-6 foot waves, nothing really for a
novice but I learned and fell in love with surfing.
Thanks to the chicks at Carve and the other
models I became a lifer!
