JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Heather Hudson
Crummer: Protect the Ocean. Feed the Hungry.
Help End War and Suffering. (I know... it's
a big order!!)
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Heather: I have
two! A 9'0" Velzy-singlefin-pintail and
a copy of it that Ventura shaper, Jim Allen
recently made for me. Jim took the measurements
off of my favorite Velzy and I got to watch
him shape it. Jim is an amazing talent. (I picked
out the colors and put our movie logo on it.)
He didn't want to sign it because he shaped
it as a tribute to Dale's design. It is one
of the most beautiful surfboards I have ever
seen!
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Heather: My grandmother,
Kay Parker. I think of her all of the time.
I cherish the memories I have of spending summers
visiting her with our family at her cabin in
Montana.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Heather: Greg
Noll, The Art of the Surfboard by Drew
Kampion (It's on my desk and next on my list).
Say by John Mayer. The Women and
the Waves (of course). Toll House Chocolate
Chip Cookies (with a glass of whole milk!)
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Heather: The release
of my surf film The Women and the Waves
and the amazing response from around the U.S.
and the world we've received!! The best screenings
we attended include Santa Barbara, San Luis
Obispo, Maui, New York & Bend Film in Oregon.
And we aren't done yet. (We are off to Australia
and UK in 2010!)
