JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Claire Bevilacqua:
With my half I would buy a house and with the
other half I would set up a charity that educates,
involves and encourages people and youth to
partake in cleaning up the environment and building
a more eco and sustainable planet.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Claire: The board
that I won Pipeline on in '09. I almost broke
my leg the day the comp started and it still
did its job and carried me through the event.
I bought it from Megan Abubo for $100, she is
a legend.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Claire: I can't
choose between Leonardo da Vinci and my grandma.
I think Leonardo had a few cool things to teach
me, and my grandma I never met but I know I
would love her.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Claire: A thesaurus,
a steady hip hop beat so I could rap and make
songs, a Taylor Steele movie and nuts and berries
trail mix.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Claire: Making
the WCT again in Brazil.
