JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Cindy Santini:
As a musician and dabbler in digital photography,
I find it really disheartening how much art
and music programs have been cut in schools.
I would contribute the money to benefit these
lacking programs in schools. I think it is extremely
important for children to fully explore their
creative sides and realize it as a realistic
option for their path in life.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
Cindy: My first
surf trip was to Costa Rica and I bought this
cheap 5'10" fish hybrid thing at a little
shop in Tamarindo with the intent to use it
for the trip and then sell it back before leaving.
I ended up liking it so much that I bought a
board bag and brought it back to San Diego with
me. I still have it today and even though it's
not my favorite board, every time I ride it
I'm reminded of that amazing trip with good
friends and all the crazy adventures we had.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
Cindy: Stevie Nicks
in the 70s. Why? Because she rocks and I love
love love all that is Fleetwood Mac! Amazing
songwriter, out of this world voice that makes
you want to melt, and her musical journey is
pure inspiration.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
Cindy: Guinness
Book of World Records. Wow, picking one
song is really difficult, can it be a Beatles
Medley track or some thing like that? Surf movie,
Point Break…just kidding. Organic
almond/cashew/cranberry trail mix from Trader
Joe's and just so you know, each bite I'd take
would consist of 2 cranberries and 1 nut ...I'm
kinda weird.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
Cindy: Out at Pupukea
on the North Shore, the sun was setting down
the beach with these amazing clouds and warm
tones, and coming over the mountains on the
other side was the full moon rising. The moon
appeared so swollen and beautiful as it sat
low on the horizon. It was the most amazing
mental photo I've ever taken in my life. Has
anyone figured out how to download photos out
of our brain yet?
