JettyGirl: A one million
dollar check arrives in your mailbox with a
note that reads, "Half of this amount is
yours and the other half is to benefit the world
around you." How would you spend the money?
Amee Donohoe: I'd
start a rebel tour for the women with some type
of equality in regards to prize money, number
of events and locations! Hopefully progressing
the sport as a whole and thus enabling it to
support numerous charities.
JG: Describe the best surfboard
you've ever ridden and why it was special to
you.
AD: My alaia. I
hand shaped it from scratch with my friend who
is a carpenter by trade. It has so much soul
about it and for a piece of wood challenges
my surfing beyond belief.
JG: If you could travel
back to any time in history and hang with one
person while they go about their daily activities,
who would it be and why?
AD: Jesus. I think
it would be pretty cool to see someone perform
miracles.
JG: For thirty days you're
stuck on a desert island with one book, one
song, one surf movie and one snack food. Which
ones would you choose?
AD: The Power
of Now by Eckhart Tolle, My Sex Is
on Fire by Kings of Leon, Morning of
the Earth, In-N-Out Burger.
JG: What is your best surf-related
memory of 2009?
AD: Holding my
line on the alaia and feeling the speed it could
generate on a wave so effortlessly, pure joy.
