| JettyGirl:
While faltering economies, political turmoil and
energy issues dominated most of the headlines
during the past year, much of 2008's good news
slipped through the cracks. What's the best thing
that happened to you in 2008 and what are you
most hopeful for in 2009?
Nikita Robb: I managed
to get to Hawaii early and scored some pretty
unreal waves with not many people out! I'm hoping
that 2009 brings me good results and a spot on
the 2010 WCT.
JG: Tell us about the first
time you ever stood up on a surfboard. Where was
it and what were you riding?
NR: The first time
I stood up was on a really old Andrew Cater surfboard
at Nahoon beach break!
JG: What is your current
favorite board? In 2009 do you have any plans
to experiment with different surfboard designs,
materials or fin configurations?
NR: My favorite board
at the moment is a 5'7 thruster by Derek Girven,
a South African shaper. I have been enjoying surfing
a twin fin diamond tail surfboard lately when
the waves have been small. I always enjoy experimenting
with boards, so I'm sure I will be finding something
new to try out!
JG: Do you have any heroes?
If so, who and why?
NR: I do have a few
heroes, my friends Tammy-lee Smith, Rosy Hodge,
Stacey Guy and Nikki Russell. Then, my parents
for always being such great role models.
JG: In 2009 we'll see the
best single maneuver ever done by a female surfer.
Who do you think will pull the move and what do
you think it will be?
NR: Silvana Lima
doing a air 360.
For those of you who like to
jump around instead of going one by one, here's
the complete list of surfers...

Caption: I've never had the opportunity to meet
South Africa's Nikita Robb but hopefully that
will change in 2009. With an eye on a future WCT
spot, Nikita will take to the road for this annual
WQS contests. Nikita has a wonderful website with
photos, video clips and an extensive list of her
recent accomplisments. Check it out here: www.nikitarobb.co.za
