| Welcome
to JettyGirl Online Surf Magazine's 2nd Annual
New Year's Feature!
After the success of last
year's New Year's feature, we decided to do it
again but wanted to step it up a notch for 2009.
Our intention was a "slight" upgrade
but what we ended up with is truly amazing...70
surfers answering the same 5 questions for a whopping
350 answers!!! Participants include multiple world
champions in both long- and shortboarding, female
surf industry veterans, ripping groms, musicians
and artists who surf.
We want to offer our deepest
thanks to everyone who helped make this feature
possible, including our presenting sponsor, Blue
Surf Sanctuary. We also want to thank all
the surfers who have allowed us to ride alongside
them in photos, videos and profiles these past
three years. Finally, a special thank you to our
readers, whose encouraging words keep our little
online surf mag moving forward.
We wish you all a wonderful
2009 :)

We
realize that reading 70 web pages full of
questions and answers is time-consuming
so we've created an alternate "Photos
Only" version. If you're short on time,
this one's worth a look...but please come
back to read the girls' complete answers
when you have time. They have a lot of worthwhile
things to say and their thoughts are the
main reason for having this New Year's Feature.

Notes:
In our first New Year's feature, Great
in 2008, quite a few of the surfers' predictions
came true. About 60% of the surfers claimed Stephanie
Gilmore would be World Champion again...and she
was. Regarding the question about "Surfers
to watch for in 2008", virtually half the
answers stated that both Coco Ho and Sally Fitzgibbons
were the ones to watch...which once again came
true with both young surfers qualifying for the
2009 WCT. With this year's "Best Move Ever"
question, the vast majority of surfers claimed
that the maneuver would come from Silvana Lima,
Carissa Moore or Melanie Bartels. It will be interesting
to see if this prediction pans out too.
