JettyGirl:
Any New Year's resolutions for 2008?
Lauren Sweeney: Get in shape! Learn how to do backside airs.
JG: If you were to donate time or money to a charitable organization or cause in 2008, what would it be and why?
LS: I would donate money to the San
Elijo Lagoon Conservancy (SELC) because they are a local
NGO (non-governmental organization) that works to preserve
the wetlands of the San Elijo Lagoon. I also believe that
the way they carry out their mission statement, raise funds
and awareness, and give back to the community by incorporating
an educational program into the budget, is one of the best
examples or models for local and national NGOs.
JG: Judging on any category you find relevant, name five female surfers to watch for in 2008 and why.
LS: Steph Gilmore: she kills it and is on fire. Super sick
style, and gnarly results. She makes it happen. Silvana Lima:
she shreds and is starting to see the results she deserves.
I think she's going to be a threat for the title next year.
Karina Petroni: the new face on the WCT, it's going to be
interesting to watch her rookie year. Chelsea Hedges: she's
been kind of quiet the last couple of years, I think she might
turn it on this year on tour. The Local Girl: keep an eye
on your local female shredder, she might inspire you with
her dedication and heart.
