JettyGirl:
Any New Year's resolutions for 2008?
Anna Garaway: Not really any New Year's resolutions this year,
just to continue surfing, maybe giving back more to the local
communities of the places I travel to.
JG: If you were to donate time or money to a charitable organization or cause in 2008, what would it be and why?
AG: I'd donate to Surfrider
or locally here in Santa Cruz to Save
our Shores because I think it's important to give back
to what we use daily.
JG: Judging
on any category you find relevant, name five female surfers
to watch for in 2008 and why.
AG: I think Stephanie Gilmore should win back to back world
titles. Her talent and style is freakish and beyond a lot
of the girls on tour. Kyla Langen, she is an awesome surfer
but has also tested the waters in other area. I think its
a matter of time before she comes out with a CD with songs
that she wrote on all of her crazy adventures around the world
or just at home at her grandma's house. Alessa Quizon, I saw
her surf this past summer at the NSSA Nationals. She was ripping!
Nataly Bernold, Costa Rica's 2007 National Champion. I've
watched Nataly surf for the last three years and she has improved
so much in this last year. She's been competing in some of
the ISA South American contests and is taking down some of
the more seasoned competitors. Watch out for this 15 year
old Tica! Karina Petroni, first year on the WCT and I think
she wants it. Watching her childhood friend Stephanie win
a world title has probably fired her up quite a bit.
