I am Valeria and I’ve created the Adalù brand. Ada and Lu‘, Luciana, were the makers, in the most literal sense of the term, of the transmission in time of memories, notions and records, from their time to my time. For this reason we all should give our thanks. We should thank our grandparents who taught us to live, create, talk and dream with the utmost dedication.
Following the loss of my grandmother Ada, I experienced a period of strong nostalgia, the sense of loss that often happens when we want something that no longer exists. How could I know this or that thing if I could not ask that to her, as I had always done since I was a child? And the disappointment of not being able to grasp every moment spent at her side, has made me weak and sad. I never overcame her absence, but I sought her closeness, to have her as close as possible to me, to feel her voice excited to see me realize something with my hands.
When I draw something, I feel close to her, when I try to make it happen, I see her, when I laugh because I made some rubbish, I laugh with her. This attitude of an almost schizophrenic art makes me think a lot about the value of our feelings in everything we do. Passion. Suffering that becomes strength and gives rise to creation.
EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE ONLY THANKS TO OUR TRADITIONS.
I put all this into my creations, combining it with my curiosity and my passion for research, which lead me to experience something new every year. I love to change and get to know the most particular and innovative fabrics.
For two years now I can count on one of the most avant-garde Italian companies, that has chosen to install a real laboratory of research, inside its main factory, improving theirself each year to become a sustainable business. Companies like this are able to keep up with change, and try to keep up with us, contemporary women, which is not a small thing to do, they are trying to make our life in the water more comfortable and sustainable.
And that’s why in the last collection I made a lot of use of the Nilo, a light and soft technical fabric with a modeling effect that enhances the silhouette; for the same reason I used a mélange fabric, with a flammé effect, called Favola, which guarantees excellent coverage and a perfect fit, ensuring a perfect comfort; both fast drying, both dress like a second skin, making the Adalù swimsuits pleasant to wear. And for the next collection we have the intent to use 100% recycled fabrics as the Revolutional Eco.
LIVING IN ITALY MEANS HAVING MANY OBSTACLES, YES, BUT ALSO LOT OF POSSIBILITIES! I FIGHT EVERY DAY WITH THE BUREAUCRACY AND CULTURAL BARRIERS THAT MY COUNTRY PUTS IN FRONT OF ME, BUT OVER THOSE BARRIERS I SEE THE FUTURE THAT I WANT AND, STRONG IN MY ROOTS, I GO FORWARD, BECAUSE OUR ROOTS ARE NOT ONLY PART OF THE PAST BUT THEY REPRESENT THE MOST SOLID STEPS TO ACCESS TO OUR DREAMS.
To conclude, what does it mean to support Made in Italy? It means giving value to tradition, believing in the love that someone put into her work, teaching us to give and to receive this love. And that’s why my costumers smile when they first touch the right bikini and wearing it they open their mouth in amazement holding their breath for a second. This is what only love does.
